Klein Animal Clinic is seeking a friendly and dedicated individual to act as a full-time veterinary assistant. We are a high quality, multi-doctor, full-service clinic. This is a position with a flexible schedule, however, rotating shifts and Saturdays are required.
Job duties include:
Prepare for exams
- Take clients and owners to exam rooms
- Check patient weights and update computer
- Prepare all anticipated vaccinations, and supplies needed for exam
- Assist With Client Education regarding nutrition, parasite control, vaccination, spaying and neutering
- Advise Dr that patient is ready
Assist with Appointments by performing the following duties
- Draw blood
- Nail trims
- Flushing ears
- Express anal glands
- Assist with physical exams by holding
- Perform Laser Therapy
- Blood pressures
Be able to perform routine laboratory analysis/ diagnostics
- Run blood-work, make sure all blood tubes are properly labeled, record results in journal and computer
- Urinalysis
- Fecal Analysis, Label all tests properly and record results on logbook and in computer
- Skin Scraping
- Ear Cytology
- Radiology/ ultrasound, produce radiology discs
- Keep lab area clean
- Blood pressures
Assist with hospitalized patients, surgery and post-surgical recovery
- Perform IV Catheterization
- Give injections per doctor’s orders
- Provide Physical Therapy
- Administer and monitor anesthesia
- Assist in Surgery
- Attach monitors for respiration O2, ECG
- Administer oral drugs and fluid therapy
- Perform emergency procedures including: control bleeding, resuscitate with oxygen
- Apply temporary bandages or splints
Discharge Surgical Hospital patients:
- Counsel clients regarding home care, medication administration, post-operative care
Assist in maintenance of pharmacy by recording drugs accurately and making list of medication that needs to be ordered
General cleaning duties as dictated by the cleaning schedules.
Assist Reception with check in/ check out, answering phones
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour - Based on Experience.
