Fulton Developers is an established real estate development firm based in Highland Park, Illinois. We specialize in high-end residential and multifamily developments across Chicago’s North Shore and are actively involved in all phases of development, including planning, design, construction, and property management.
Position Summary
This is a full-time, in-office position responsible for managing transactional accounting functions for development, construction, and condominium association entities.
The ideal candidate has experience in construction or real estate accounting, understands job cost tracking, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
This role reports directly to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately by job and cost category
- Maintain subcontractor compliance files (COIs, W-9s, lien waivers)
- Prepare and track vendor payments
- Assist with construction draw backup documentation
Job Cost Accounting
- Maintain accurate job cost records
- Reconcile job cost reports to general ledger
- Assist with budget tracking and variance support
Bank & Account Reconciliations
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple entities
- Maintain intercompany transaction tracking
Accounts Receivable
- Process deposits and track receivables
- Support buyer payments, capital contributions, and HOA collections
General Accounting
- Record journal entries as needed
- Assist with month-end close
- Support Controller with lender reporting and financial package preparation
- Coordinate documentation for CPA and tax preparation
Qualifications
- 5+ years bookkeeping experience (construction or real estate strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong follow-through and accountability
- Comfortable working in an in-office environment
- Ability to manage multiple entities simultaneously
Preferred:
- Experience with development or general contractor accounting
- Familiarity with construction draw processes
- HOA accounting experience
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 - $80,000 depending on experience
