About the Position
We're looking for a dependable Dinner Cook to join our team at Arlington Baptist University. This position is responsible for preparing and serving dinner for our students while helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen.
This isn't a high-volume restaurant kitchen. We're a small campus dining operation where quality, consistency, and teamwork matter most. We're looking for someone who enjoys cooking, takes pride in their work, and is committed to leaving the kitchen in great shape at the end of each day.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dinner according to established recipes and menus.
- Ensure food is prepared, held, and served according to quality and food safety standards.
- Complete prep work for future meals as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products.
- Monitor food quality, temperatures, and portion consistency during service.
- Work with the Food Service Director and fellow team members to provide a smooth and efficient meal service.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance concerns.
- Complete all end-of-day closing procedures, including cleaning equipment, washing dishes as assigned, taking out trash, securing food products, completing required sanitation tasks, and ensuring the kitchen is clean, stocked, and ready for the next day's service.
- Follow all company, health department, and food safety policies.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, institutional, or banquet setting preferred.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and production sheets.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work efficiently during busy meal periods while maintaining quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Why Join Our Team?
We're a small team that values respect, reliability, and taking pride in serving our campus community. Everyone contributes, everyone supports one another, and we believe a positive kitchen culture creates a better experience for both our staff and our students.
