Knowledge of North Carolina motor vehicle laws; Knowledge of federal laws, particularly those that apply to operating a passenger carrying vehicle; Knowledge of campus geography; Skilled in operating a public transportation vehicle, heavy truck, or other heavy vehicle; Skilled in public service contact with a customer orientation; Skilled in working in a regimented work environment that requires following orders; Ability to write legibly and coherently; Ability to speak clearly and distinctly over the radio and to passengers; Ability to read and comprehend documents, policies, directives, and text-based electronic media.
Applicants must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license at the time of application.
Applicants who do not currently hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement must be willing and able to obtain the required licensure following the training offered by the University. The CDL training may be onsite or via a 3rd party. The University will provide CDL training consistent with FMCSA requirements. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of CDL training and attainment of the CDL with Passenger endorsement within the timeframe established by the University.
Applicants who are unable to successfully complete required training, fail to obtain the CDL with Passenger endorsement, or otherwise fail to meet applicable federal or state licensure requirements are subject to termination of employment.
