Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Drilling Crew/Service Assistant and become a vital part of the water well trade throughout NW Ohio. In this role, you will support drilling operations, assist with maintenance, and ensure safety protocols are followed on-site. Duties
- Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment including excavators, and service trucks to support drilling and utility installation projects.
- Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting heavy materials, rigging, and climbing to access work areas safely.
- Support pipeline, water systems, and electrical cabling installations by locating utilities, performing wire splicing, and using hand tools and power tools for assembly and repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and site conditions to ensure safety standards are maintained; perform basic maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) tasks as needed.
- Operate heavy machinery with precision while adhering to safety protocols; utilize bucket operation skills for material handling.
- Assist with utility locating, trenching, cabling, welding, ladder use, and other construction site activities to facilitate project progress.
- Support team members in high voltage and low voltage electrical work; ensure safe handling of power tools and electrical components.
Skills
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with proficiency in hand tools, power tools, rigging, climbing techniques, and ladder use.
- Familiarity with wire splicing, utility locating methods, cabling techniques, welding procedures, and water system installation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining manual handling best practices; experience working on construction sites within the energy & utilities sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for pipeline infrastructure and electrical systems; experience with low voltage/high voltage electrical work is a plus.
- Skilled in the use of power tools for construction or repair activities; capable of troubleshooting mechanical issues on-site.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to high voltage/low voltage environments; ability to follow detailed instructions for complex tasks involving rigging or heavy machinery.
