Overview
The Golf Course Mechanic reports to the golf course Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for the golf course assets. This program includes diagnostics and repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The Golf Course Mechanic properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and effects necessary repairs.
Duties
Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical defects on various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, gasoline and electric powered tractors, mowers, rollers, sweepers and other equipment used in utility work.
Service, sharpen and repair/replace mower blades, bed knives, and decks.
Instruct and/or train golf course maintenance workers on safe operation, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment.
Maintain a preventive maintenance program for all maintenance equipment.
Maintain an adequate inventory to effect common repairs.
Document and track repairs, repair costs, and preventive maintenance on all equipment.
Spot check equipment for performance on the course, effect emergency repairs to equipment on the course.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Minimum Requirements:
Possession of a valid Drivers License.
2 Years of equipment repair experience.
Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and the operation of internal combustion engines (gas & diesel).
Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance / repairs.
Skill in the use of a variety of equipment repair tools and making various mechanical repairs.
Ability to move / lift heavy objects.
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including cold, heat and rain.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Prior experience working on golf course maintenance equipment (John Deere, Toro, etc).
Prior experience with mower blade and bed knife sharpener (Foley, Toro, etc)
Ability to weld and make fabrications or alterations to new or existing equipment to ensure proper working order and efficiency.
Ability to operate a farm tractor with various implements.
Ability to operate all golf course maintenance equipment.
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
