Southwest Fiber Optic is seeking an experienced Fiber Drop Technician to assist our team with a temporary coverage assignment. This is a five-day contract position covering for a team member who is out on vacation. There is potential for future opportunities, and qualified contractors will receive first consideration should a permanent position become available.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced fiber technicians looking for immediate work with next-day pay.
Schedule
- Temporary 5-day assignment
- Monday – Friday
- Immediate start
Compensation
- $24.00–$26.00 per hour
- 1099 Independent Contractor
- Paid the following business day for the previous day's completed work
- Payment via Zelle or Venmo
Responsibilities
- Perform residential fiber drop installations.
- Place and secure aerial and underground fiber drops.
- Complete basic fiber drop routing from terminal to customer premise.
- Install and secure NIDs, slack storage, and fiber enclosures as required.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on fiber drops when needed.
- Ensure all work meets customer and company quality standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding installation appointments and work being completed.
- Follow all company safety procedures while working in the field.
- Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 1 year of fiber installation or fiber drop experience.
- Experience installing residential fiber drops.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred
- Experience with aerial and underground fiber construction.
- Basic knowledge of fiber testing and troubleshooting.
- Telecommunications, broadband, or cable installation experience.
- Customer service experience.
Equipment
Southwest Fiber Optic will provide:
- All required tools
- Necessary installation equipment
Contractors are responsible for providing:
- Reliable work vehicle
- Valid driver's license
- Standard PPE (if applicable)
