Position Summary:
The Inspector is responsible for validating initial production runs to ensure parts meet all specifications before full-scale manufacturing begins. This role focuses on blueprint verification, dimensional accuracy, and process validation to prevent defects and ensure quality at the source.
First Piece Inspection is the first piece, start of process, In process in completed throughout and final inspection at completion of processing.
Job Duties:
- Perform first piece inspections on initial production parts and document results
- Validate first piece weld quality based on indicators such as weld color and concavity, using tools such as boroscopes and concavity gauges.
- Compare work orders, prints, and specifications to produced parts
- Maintain organized inspection records and documentation
- Support material handling using pallet jacks
- Maintain organization of workstations, pallets, and parts
- Perform detailed dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Identify and communicate nonconformances to production and quality teams
- Assist in root cause identification for out-of-tolerance conditions
Qualifications:
- Basic mathematics skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Data entry and computer proficiency
- Experience using measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, height gauge)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints (required for Level 2)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow directions and standard work procedures
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Prior inspection or manufacturing experience preferred
Pay Range: $18 - 19/ hour
