We are hiring a Field Service Technician - Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our Denver, Colorado team. This role is focused on industrial power generators and related electrical/mechanical systems, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, load bank testing, and verification testing on stand-alone and paralleling generator systems from 100 kW to 2000 kW.
This is a field-based, safety-sensitive role for a technician with strong generator, diesel engine, and electrical diagnostic experience. We are also willing to train technicians with 2 to 3 years of military generator experience.
What you will do
● Perform preventive maintenance on industrial power generators and related equipment
● Diagnose, repair, and test stand-alone and paralleling generator systems from 100 kW to 2000 kW
● Perform load bank testing and verification testing
● Troubleshoot generator controls, PLC-related issues, control panels, voltage regulators, and H panels
● Diagnose and repair electrical components including paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, distribution gear, transformers, and service panels
● Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot diesel, natural gas, and LP vapor engines
● Use diagnostic tools and computerized instrumentation to identify electrical and mechanical issues
● Communicate equipment condition, repair recommendations, and service updates clearly to customers and internal teams
● Work independently in the field while following all company safety policies and procedures
● Participate in overtime, after-hours on-call shifts, and travel as needed
Required qualifications
● 3+ years of generator repair, diesel engine repair, or power generation industry experience, or equivalent hands-on experience
● Experience as a field service technician, generator technician, diesel technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or industrial mechanic
● Strong knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
● Strong knowledge of generator operation, controls, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
● Experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel, natural gas, and LP vapor engines
● Ability to diagnose and repair automatic transfer switches, switchgear, transformers, service panels, and related electrical components
● Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
● Ability to drive large trucks and tow equipment
● Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing with customers, managers, and team members
● Ability to work independently in the field
● Ability to meet all safety requirements and use required safety equipment
● Ability to maintain consistent attendance and work irregular hours when needed
● Ability to provide and maintain personal hand tools
Preferred qualifications
● OSHA 10
● Safety training related to field service or electrical/mechanical repair
● Experience with paralleling systems, PLC troubleshooting, and generator control panels
● Knowledge of NFPA 110 and life safety generator requirements
● Military generator experience
