Role Overview
The Marketing and Business Development Specialist supports patient acquisition, referral growth, and community awareness for an outpatient psychiatry practice. This role integrates local outreach, digital marketing, SEO, social media, CRM tracking, and reputation management, with a strong emphasis on ethical communication and mental health sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Growth & Local Outreach
- Build relationships with referral sources (therapists, primary care providers, schools, and community organizations)
- Coordinate community education efforts focused on mental health awareness
- Support outreach that reduces stigma and improves access to psychiatric care
- Track referral sources and patient acquisition channels
Digital Marketing & SEO
- Optimize website content for psychiatry-related services (e.g., depression, anxiety, ADHD, medication management)
- Improve local SEO rankings for mental health and psychiatry searches
- Manage online directories and provider profiles
- Monitor website traffic, conversions, and user behavior
Social Media (Mental Health-Focused)
- Create educational, stigma-sensitive content aligned with evidence-based mental health topics
- Maintain a professional, non-clinical tone (no medical advice or patient-specific content)
- Manage engagement while maintaining boundaries and compliance
- Ensure all content adheres to privacy and ethical guidelines
CRM & Patient Journey
- Track inquiries, referrals, and patient conversion through CRM or internal systems
- Identify drop-off points in the intake process and recommend improvements
- Support communication workflows (follow-ups, reminders, re-engagement campaigns where appropriate)
Reputation Management & PR
- Monitor and respond to online reviews professionally and compliantly
- Support provider visibility through local media, thought leadership, or educational content
- Assist with press outreach related to mental health awareness topics (when appropriate)
Branding & Communications
- Maintain a consistent, trustworthy, and compassionate brand voice
- Ensure all messaging is accurate, non-stigmatizing, and aligned with clinical standards
- Develop patient-friendly educational materials
Qualifications
- 2+ years of marketing experience (healthcare or mental health strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, SEO, and social media
- Experience with CRM systems and patient/customer tracking
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience with Google Ads or local paid campaigns
- Basic design/video editing tools (Canva, CapCut, etc.)
- Driver's License
- Vehicle and automobile insurance
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in psychiatry, behavioral health, or therapy settings
- Knowledge of mental health terminology and patient journeys
- Familiarity with sales processes, lead generation techniques, and pipeline management.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare marketing compliance
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus
Compensation: $25 per hour, 20 hours
