The First Coach plays a key leadership role in supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of team development, performance, and operations. This position is responsible for assisting with training sessions, game strategy, player development, and fostering a positive, disciplined, and high-performing team culture.

Assist the Head Coach in planning and delivering effective training sessions

Support game-day preparation, including strategy, lineup decisions, and in-game adjustments

Provide individual and group coaching to improve player performance and skill development

Help evaluate player performance and contribute to team selection decisions

Promote a positive team environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Step in to lead practices or games in the absence of the Head Coach

Ensure compliance with league, organizational, and safety regulations

Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling, communication, and equipment management

Act as a role model for athletes both on and off the field

Previous coaching or playing experience in the relevant sport

Strong knowledge of game strategy, rules, and player development techniques

Excellent communication and leadership skills

Ability to motivate and mentor athletes of varying skill levels

Strong organizational and time management abilities

Certification(s) or coaching licenses (if required by league/organization)

Prior experience in a similar assistant or first coach role

CPR/First Aid certification

Experience working with youth, high school, or competitive-level athletes

Combination of practice field, game venues, and occasional administrative settings

Evening and weekend availability required
