About the Role
The Express Meetings Manager oversees accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals (room night, average rate, banquet food, banquet beverage, meeting room rental, audio visual, and room rental) are achieved or exceeded.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue and target key potential accounts.
- Complete quarterly action plans and marketing meetings.
- Actively solicit accounts, business from new and existing clients to maximize expected revenues.
- Exceed sales goals by generating profitable rooms and catering sales revenue.
- Represent the hotel at tradeshows, networking events, CVB and Chamber meetings.
- Stay up to date with current meetings and booking trends and utilize this information to close business.
- Pursue targeted key accounts with outside sales calls, appointment calls, site tours, telemarketing, etc.
- Manage and maintain Local Negotiated accounts in the Patriot’s Club.
- Detail events with clients including menu selection, diagraming, and billing, etc.
Essential Functions
- Solicit new National Accounts utilizing Travel Click’s Agency 360 report. Qualify business, track leads, and follow up.
- Maintain local market segment through outside sales calls. Knowing Menus, Meeting capacities, AV information, sleeping room details while displaying knowledge of the City of Charleston.
- Be familiar with P&L, Marketing Plan, Forecasting, and Budget.
- Communicate with Operations via BEOs, Resumes, and meetings.
- Review budget of your market segment and recognize its impact on the budget for the entire hotel.
- Work cooperatively with all departments to fulfill the guest and client expectations.
- Ensure timely communication with clients and staff.
- Use effective selling and negotiating skills through the sales cycle.
- Present ideas, expectations, and information in a concise, well-organized way.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- College Degree preferred
- Two years in Convention and Conference Coordination preferred with exposure to office procedures and experience in function room set-ups and service.
Required Skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Delphi, property management systems, Cvent/meeting broker, and third-party lead generation sites.
Physical Demands in the Work Environment
Required to stand, walk, and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift to twenty-five pounds.
