Job Summary
Great Lakes Environmental Services is seeking a dependable, hardworking Painter to join our field team. This position involves commercial painting and coating work at a variety of project locations with the primary being school buildings. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows up reliably and works well with others. On larger projects, this candidate would lead a small crew. This positions follows closely with the school schedule with more hours worked during off periods.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise painting crews on multiple projects, providing clear direction and mentorship to ensure high standards of workmanship.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to accurately plan painting tasks.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, caulking, and applying primers to ensure optimal adhesion and durability.
- Execute a wide range of painting techniques including brush painting, roller painting, spray painting (including airless and conventional spray), and structural coating applications.
- Manage construction site safety protocols by enforcing safety regulations, utilizing respiratory protection equipment, and ensuring proper use of hand tools and power tools.
Skills
- Preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching and masking.
- Skilled in the use of ladders, scaffolding, hand tools, power tools, paint sprayers (including airless), brushes, rollers, and other relevant equipment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations including respiratory protection protocols and hazard mitigation on construction sites.
- Experience with renovation projects involving plaster, masonry, fixture installation, caulking, or remodeling is a plus.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams while maintaining high safety standards.
