Position Summary
Wayside Plumbing is seeking a motivated Plumbing Apprentice who is eager to learn the plumbing trade while providing exceptional service to our customers. This position works alongside an experienced plumber to gain hands-on experience in residential and light commercial plumbing, including service work, water heaters, sewer repairs, drain cleaning, and excavation projects.
The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and takes pride in doing quality work. We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career—not just find another job.
Essential Responsibilities:
Daily Responsibilities-
- Assist the lead plumber with service calls and installations.
- Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized work truck.
- Protect customers' homes by using floor coverings and cleaning up after every job.
- Dig trenches and assist with excavation projects.
- Help install and repair:
- Water heaters
- Water lines
- Drain lines
- Sewer lines
- Fixtures
- Toilets
- Faucets
- Garbage disposals
- Assist with drain cleaning equipment.
- Learn to identify plumbing problems and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Take before-and-after photos of completed work when required.
- Complete daily paperwork accurately.
- Restock truck inventory and supplies.
- Keep the shop clean and organized.

- Wear required PPE.

- Practice safe lifting techniques.
- Follow trench and excavation safety procedures.
- Operate tools safely.
- Immediately report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Previous plumbing experience is not required

Preferred Qualifications-
- Mechanical aptitude
- Construction experience
- Experience using power tools

Physical Requirements-
This position regularly requires:
- Standing for extended periods
- Walking on uneven terrain
- Climbing ladders
- Crawling under homes and in crawl spaces
- Digging and trenching
- Kneeling, bending, twisting, and lifting heavy materials
- Working in hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions

Pay: $17.00 - $35.00 per hour
