Title: Health Specialist

Reports To: Health Coordinator
Position Summary: Provide supportive health services for infants and toddlers with staff and appropriate community providers to enhance the growth and development of children.
Essential Functions:
- Implement the Performance Standards in all activities, particularly in the area of health and healthy child development.
- Always exhibit appropriate role modeling through language, dress, hygiene and expressing appropriate attitudes. Wear appropriate clothing to perform job duties as outlined by the agency.
- Direct the Family Support Specialist and families without medical insurance to appropriate providers or state agencies to obtain medical insurance for their child/family.
- Assist families in obtaining primary care doctor and dentist.
- Support and maintain the integrity of the Agency’s confidentiality policy.
- Complete the required screenings of children within 45 days.
- Work with families, staff and providers to document infants and toddlers follow prescribed schedules of well baby care, have documented physical forms in place and assist with follow-up care as needed.
- Work with staff and families to ensure infants and toddlers receive necessary age-appropriate immunizations or obtain documentation of immunization status.
- Organize, enter and maintain health data in child database within two weeks of receiving.
- Initiate and document contact with families for any health concerns.
- Analyze medical records and work with appropriate staff on findings.
- Review health information and enter relevant data in database.
- Fax release of information forms to necessary physical and oral health referrals.
- Coordinate with supervisor health referrals for families.
- Advocate for parents and/or arrange for provision of services and follow-ups for all health problems.
- Complete vision screenings of infants and toddlers. Ensure and document follow-up with families on suspect screenings. Enter the results in the appropriate database system.
- Complete hearing screenings of infants and toddlers. Ensure and document follow-up with families on suspect screenings. Enter the results in the appropriate database system.
- Obtain and support families with completing lead and hemoglobin screenings on infants and toddlers Provide follow-up and support on abnormal levels.
- Record heights and weights of infants and toddlers as on well-child reports.
- Work collaboratively with assigned family support specialists, following up on children and their health needs and/or screenings.
- Collaborate with local childcare centers, health care, or social service agencies as needed.
- Attend staffing, team, parent and Health Advisory meetings as needed.
- Inventory, track and dispense supplies for oral hygiene, first aid kits, and other health needs.
- Submit monthly reports as necessary.
- Collect donated goods and personal services non-federal share forms as volunteer services are rendered and turn in to your supervisor monthly.
- Travel between EHS program sites as required.
Other responsibilities:
- Participate in training, meetings, conferences and program reporting as relevant to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
1. LPN, CAN. or Medical Assistant certification with experience with pediatrics and immunizations. Associates of higher in health field is preferred.
2. Experience working with infants and toddlers.
3. Ability to read and interpret medical information.
Other Requirements:
1. Initial Physical exam and TB test for new hires.
2. Initial PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Check, FBI clearance and NSOR clearance.
3. Current PA driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of insurance liability.
4. Must have I-9 proof of employment eligibility.
5. Bi-annual CPR and First Aid Certification.
6. Computer skills.
Pay: $17.77 - $26.78 per hour
