Job Summary:
The Remote Pharmacy Program Manager who leads a team of fully remote Registered Nurses providing virtual pharmacy-focused education, medication adherence guidance, and care coordination for patients living with rare and complex conditions.
This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient support, strong clinical execution, and consistent compliance with program requirements, while developing and supporting a high-performing nursing team. The Supervisor works closely with Nurse Care Coordinators on a daily basis, providing coaching, feedback, and escalation support, while partnering with internal teams and external healthcare stakeholders to ensure a smooth and effective patient journey.
This position is both strategic and hands-on and plays a key role in maintaining service quality, improving workflows, and supporting overall program performance.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Clinical Oversight:
- Lead, coach, and develop a fully remote team of Care Coordinators
- Provide ongoing coaching, quality reviews, and performance feedback
- Support team members with complex cases, therapy onboarding challenges, and escalated clinical or psychosocial concerns
- Reinforce best practices in telemedicine/telephonic nursing, motivational interviewing, medication adherence, and patient documentation
Operational & Program Management:
- Ensure all program deliverables, performance expectations, and regulatory requirements are met
- Monitor staffing coverage, workload distribution, and service levels
- Review documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with privacy and quality standards
- Track performance trends and address gaps through coaching or improvement plans
Clinical & Pharmacy Support:
- Maintain working knowledge of assigned disease states and therapies, including administration requirements, side-effect management, and monitoring considerations
- Support Care Coordinators in identifying patient needs, assessing risks, and addressing medication adherence barriers
- Coordinate care elements such as labs, specialty pharmacy access, and infusion logistics
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as a key point of connection between the nursing team and external partners, including healthcare providers, infusion centers, specialty pharmacies, payers, and manufacturer clients
- Address escalated concerns with professionalism and urgency
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, client discussions, system updates, process changes, and pharmacy program launches
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
- Review performance data, patient feedback, and workflow challenges
- Identify opportunities to improve patient engagement, medication adherence outcomes, and service quality
- Support audit readiness and participate in internal and external reviews
Required Qualifications:
- Pharmacy benefit management experience
- Patient program
- 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a leadership, mentoring, or quality-focused role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in telehealth nursing, patient navigation, specialty pharmacy, pharmacy hub services, case management, or medication adherence programs
- Familiarity with reimbursement pathways, financial assistance programs, and specialty medication access
- Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
- Comfort leading teams, providing direct feedback, and working across multiple systems
- Strong commitment to documentation accuracy, patient privacy, and regulatory compliance
