At Quality Edge, we specialize in aluminum and steel exterior building products – including siding, soffit, fascia, trim coil, gutter protection, and other building accessory products. We are seeking two, hands-on leaders, to fill one opening on 1st shift and one opening on 3rd shift. If you are passionate about manufacturing, lean principals and implementation, are creative, have advanced computer skills (must be able to pass a computer proficiency exam that evaluates Microsoft Office products), and are able to build great teams then you need to apply. This position will work with the Shift Supervisor and Operations Manager to set-up and drive lean manufacturing processes, quality standards and assist in accomplishing our efficiency goals and record keeping.
Production Lead Responsibilities
· Lead shift production team to achieve objectives & goals
· Assign team to machines to satisfy production schedule
· Train and work with team to achieve objectives
· Maintain and enforce company policies and safety standards on shift
· Establish and implement team strategies, programs, and practices to achieve world class manufacturing, inventory turns and process flow on 1st and 3rd shift
· Drive best practices in production process
· Drive measurable improvements in productivity and product flow
· Promote Lean, Six Sigma integration to achieve business goals
· Assist with material handling & machine operation to produce quality parts
- Will serve as a back-up material handler when needed
· Use Work Center Processing system reports to monitor daily production operator efficiency rates – addressing concerns promptly and communicate rates timely with the production team
· Assist with the calculation of manufacturing productivity & be active in improving operations
· Daily use of Excel and Word and JD Edwards
· Investigate any rates that deviate excessively from the standard
· Partner with leadership and HR to build a good culture on the plant floor and/or address concerns
Qualifications
· Must have a minimum of 3 years working in manufacturing and be able to show progression in career positions that have led you to be ready for a team lead role and/or have held a Production Lead role for 2 years working in a lean manufacturing facility
· Intermediate computer skills required (must be able to pass a computer proficiency exam)
· Previous MRP use required, JD Edwards experience a plus
· Strong team orientation
· Ability and willingness to motivate team and lead change
· Able to train others successfully and optimize cross training of team
· Independent, strong problem solving abilities and willingness to make decisions
· Certification and/or demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing Lean principles (value stream mapping, one-piece flow, Action Workouts, Kaizen, 5s, and other lean tools)
· Strong communication skills
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
· Ability to get fork truck certification (includes ability to pass drug screen that includes THC)
· Willingness to cover occasional Saturday shifts during overtime needs (rotation basis)
