We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Safety Director / Trainer. In this pivotal role, you will develop, implement, safety programs that promote occupational health, and foster a culture of safety excellence. SAFETY DIRECTOR/ TRAINER
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. MAINTAIN DRIVER FILES
a. Monitor physical exam expiration dates of all drivers.
b. Monitor driver license expiration dates—all drivers & subs
c. Complete driver “annual certificate of violations”
d. Request and review MVR reports (min. is annually)
e. Continue to assist with upkeep of driver files.
2. TRAINING OF DRIVERS
a. New employees to take test and become licensed.
b. Classroom training classes with ongoing updates and continuing ed.
c. Safety classes to shop/office personnel (qrtly)
d. training on student discipline
e. Plan and teach these sessions
3. ANNUAL EVALUATIONS OF DRIVERS:
a. ride along and fill out eval. Form (pre-trip & driving)
b. ride along on routes to oversee any safety concerns
4. MAINTAIN STUDENT DISCIPLINE SYSTEM
a. report each “drivers” write-up to the correct school
b. follow thru with each report until return comment to the driver
c. keep up the “write-up system” in office, to be able to “track” all reports
d. meet with schools, parents, and students when needed
e. work with school staff on ridership rules
f. give training classes to students at schools yearly
g. assist other drivers to be able to give training with the help of written information.
h. CAMERAS: place and remove cameras from buses as needed. View videos and assist problem areas/routes. Alert Supervisors of any abnormal activity.
i. Keep library of incident videos.
5. DRIVE SCHOOLBUS AS NEEDED/REQUESTED
a. most every afternoon
b. learn all routes eventually. (with help of route papers)
c. some mornings may also need driver(prior to “normal” start time)
d. any route may need occasional driver
6. MAINTAIN AND REVIEW PRE-TRIP INSPECTION FORMS.(retain old)
7. Re-supply any safety items into buses (emerg equip, BF clean-up,etc)
8. KEEP TRACK OF FUEL STATISTICS
a.summarize the daily amounts of fuel removed from supply tank
b.keep track of total gallons of remaining fuel in supply tank
c. let supervisor know when fuel is getting low (1000 gal. for diesel: 500 for gas) so fuel gets ordered.
9. SUMMARIZE FUEL USED IN “NON-SCHOOL” TRIPS.
a. fill out all reports connected with IFTA (quarterly reports)
b. keep separate stats on miles and fuel used with the coaches.
c. Monthly reports listing fuel used for each particular trip (school,charter,army,college)
10. OSHA LOGS – ACCIDENT REPORTS—FORMS
a. assist drivers with reports
b. mail in to state
c. keep file in office of incident
d. keep OSHA 300 log
11. maintain STORM WATER PERMIT
a. is usually yearly
b. walk around site and fill out form (quarterly)
c. check emerg exits of building
12. Maintain POSTERS IN LOUNGE for employer requirements
a. maintain the required posters (eg min. pay, etc)
b. upkeep safety posters
c. upkeep discipline posters
13. Watch over shop (as far as safety situations)
a. alert supervisor of problem areas
b. suggest items of improvement
ASSIST THE OFFICE AS NEEDED
a. answer phones
b. help build routes
SUMMER MONTHS:
a. June or July are the months to take vacation
b. also help with bus cleaning, painting, grounds maintenance
c. drive summer routes if needed
OTHER ITEMS/DUTIES AS DEEMED NECESSARY
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
