Position Title: Behavioral Health Clinician

Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for providing comprehensive behavioral health services to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use disorders. The clinician conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, provides therapeutic interventions, maintains clinical documentation, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support client recovery and wellness.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssessments & Evaluations
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, substance use assessments, mental health evaluations, and risk assessments.
- Complete intake screenings and determine client eligibility for services.
- Assess client strengths, needs, barriers, and support systems.
- Identify crisis situations and implement appropriate interventions and safety planning.
- Develop individualized Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) based on assessment findings.
Clinical Documentation
- Complete all clinical documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
- Maintain progress notes, service notes, treatment plans, reassessments, discharge summaries, and crisis documentation.
- Ensure documentation complies with Medicaid, state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and behavioral health regulations.
- Document client progress toward goals and treatment outcomes.
Therapeutic Services
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling services.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions.
- Assist clients with coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse prevention, and recovery support.
- Coordinate care with community providers, medical professionals, and support systems.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support as needed.
Case Coordination
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, peer support staff, case managers, and community agencies.
- Refer clients to community resources, housing services, medical providers, and support programs.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations.
- Advocate for client needs and continuity of care.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain compliance with all licensing, accreditation, and Medicaid guidelines.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, supervision, and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain professional licensure/certification requirements and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
- Experience working with Adult mental health and/or substance use populations preferred.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning, crisis intervention, and documentation standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Medicaid documentation and service requirements.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented practices.
- Experience conducting comprehensive clinical assessments.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and use office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to travel locally for community-based services if required.
