Minimum employment requirements
Beginning July 23rd, 2023, all employed paraeducators must meet the following minimum employment requirements:

Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent (for more detailed information on what is considered equivalent, please read our FAQ (document)
In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:

Have received a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the board*

Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university

Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university

Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council**
- Official transcripts, ETS scores, HS Diploma or Transcript must be uploaded for consideration.
JOB SUMMARY:
Para Educator will be assigned to classrooms/schedule at the K-12 level will assist in the supervision, guidance, and instruction of identified students as directed by the supervising certificated teacher, the building principals and/or the Special Education Director. Assignments include preparation of materials and learning spaces as necessary, space clean up, tutorial assistance to individual and small groups of students, data collection/record keeping, and personal hygiene assistance and care of students as necessary. Assignments may also include group supervision at meals recesses, bus lines, on the bus, etc., as directed.
