Job Profile Summary
The Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor assists in the delivery of care to the psychiatric patient who has acute behavioral disorder or an exacerbation of a chronic psychiatric illness. Completes a social history on all patients and participates in the setting of treatment goals. Keeps family members and referral sources abreast of the treatment process as permitted by patient consent. Assists all other program staff in maintaining a stable treatment milieu and assists in program development.
GENERAL DUTIES

Group Therapy: Establishes program-wide group therapy schedule. Leads process group therapy and develops groups for program per patient group/community age-appropriate and diagnostic needs. Documents patient group participation and patient progress per discipline’s treatment goals, as required per policy and procedure.

Individual/ Family Therapy: Provides individual/family therapy as ordered or as patient’s needs indicate. Orients patients/families to program policies as needed. Completes social histories within established time frames. Reviews and signs patient treatment plans with patients and families. Facilitates communication, keeps all team members aware of patient care/treatment issues.

Treatment Team Participation: Participates in treatment team meeting and treatment programs assuring that family needs are met. Investigates and appropriately reports suspicion or allegations of abuse/neglect to proper authorities per policy.

Milieu Safety: Assists in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring compliance with program rules and aiding with security and providing physical assistance in control of patients. Monitors the facility for hazards or harmful items in the environment. Reports any safety issue to nurse. Documents significant occurrences, observed behaviors, and observation findings in patient charts and reports to nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in the state of Louisiana.
American Heart Association BLS.
CPI obtained in orientation period.
