The Role
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Assistant Director to partner with our center's Director. In this role, you will help lead daily operations, support our dedicated teaching staff, and foster a safe, enriching environment for our children and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Assist the Director in overseeing daily operations, ensuring strict compliance with school policies and state licensing requirements. Maintain accurate facility records and documentation.
- Staff Management: Coordinate staff schedules, monitor student-teacher ratios, manage substitute coverage, and step in to support teachers during challenging situations.
- Team Development: Support the hiring and onboarding processes, and assist in ongoing staff training and professional development initiatives.
- Curriculum Support: Partner with the Director and teaching staff to implement curriculum and evaluate program success.
- Family Engagement: Act as a welcoming face for the center. Organize parent communications (newsletters, meetings, special events) and lead enrollment tours for prospective families.
- Administrative Duties: Manage and maintain accurate data within our childcare management software.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) with at least 12 core Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
- Additional Units: 6 semester units in administration and supervision of childcare and development.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of early childhood teaching experience, plus 1 year of supervisory experience in an educational setting.
- Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR certifications, and a current Mandated Reporter Training certificate.
- Compliance: Must pass a comprehensive background check and meet all minimum state training requirements for licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Language Skills: Bilingual in Mandarin or Cantonese is highly preferred.
- Advanced Education: Completed or currently pursuing an M.A. in ECE or Child Development.
- Extended Experience: 3+ years of early childhood teaching experience with a background as a Lead Teacher or Assistant Director.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational, multitasking, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and childcare management software (experience with CenterTrack is a major plus).
