About Trash Fairies:
We help apartment communities keep things clean and running smoothly by collecting bagged trash and recycling from residents’ doors and taking it to on-site dumpsters. It’s simple, dependable service — with a light touch of magic.
Role: District Manager (Field Operations)
Compensation: $50,000/year salary
Schedule: Full-time, Wednesday through Sunday (primarily in the field). Daytime and evening schedules vary slightly.
Location: Based in the Richmond-metro area, managing teams of couriers throughout the district. This is primarily a field-first role, so applicants should expect to be out at properties most days and many evenings, as well.
What You'll Do:
- Lead daily field operations across assigned properties; be the last one in the field when needed.
- Own scheduling: daytime planning and early-evening staffing checks/coverage for last-minute change requests (heaviest around 6–7pm).
- Run routes when needed; train and coach couriers (part-time workforce) to meet quality and timeliness standards.
- Conduct property visits, deliver supplies, and ensure route readiness.
- Communicate quickly and clearly with couriers and property teams (texting is a big part of the job).
- Track performance, solve on-the-fly issues, and keep leadership informed.
- Partner with Area Managers to support coverage and maintain courier standards.
What Sets This Role Apart:
- Full-time leadership with day- and night-time responsibilities
- Company truck, company phone, company gas card, and benefits
- High level of autonomy in a fast-moving, field-based environment
- Direct impact on service quality for our partner communities and their residents.
You're a Potential Fit if...
- You love being hands-on in the field and leading from the front.
- You thrive on problem-solving, especially in a fast-paced field environment.
- You communicate clearly and professionally (mostly via text) with distributed teams.
- You're reliable, organized, and willing to work the Sunday–Thursday cadence, including late nights when needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license; acceptable MVR to operate a company vehicle.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Comfortable working nights and weekends (Sun-Thu core schedule).
- Able to lift/move 50 lbs and navigate stairs/long exterior corridors.
- Proficient with smartphones/apps for texting, scheduling, photos, and basic reports.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Supervisory experience in field ops, logistics, hospitality, route management, or similar (preferred but not required).
Additional "Nice to Have" Qualities:
- Experience managing field teams.
- Routing/scheduling know-how (e.g., spreadsheets, dispatch tools).
- Property management/vendor experience.
Benefits:
Full-time role with company truck, phone, gas card, and benefits eligibility (medical and other standard full-time benefits). Details provided in the interview process.
