Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Opportunities
Locations: Indianapolis (Methodist/North/System) and surrounding IU Health regions
Shifts: Various (Full-Time, Part-Time; Days, Nights, and Mixed Acuity status available)
Role Overview
As a Registered Nurse within our Progressive Care Units, you will provide high-acuity, evidence-based care to patients transitioning between intensive care and general medical-surgical floors. You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and coordination of care for complex patient populations, including those with advanced cardiac conditions, pulmonary diseases, and post-surgical recovery needs.
Unit-Specific Clinical Focus
- Cardiopulmonary Mixed Acuity: Manage patients with COPD, CHF, Pulmonary Fibrosis, pneumonia, and those requiring ventilation or ENT care. This unit serves both Med/Surg and PCU acuity levels.
- Cardiac PCU (Advanced Heart Care): Specialized care for advanced heart failure, pulmonary HTN, arrhythmias, congenital heart defects, and post-procedural care (CABG, LVAD workup, heart transplant workup, and sheath pulls after cardiac cath).
- Surgical PCU: Coordinate recovery for complex surgical patients, including post-CABG, open-heart surgery, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, sepsis, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Qualifications
- Education: Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Note: Must be a graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program. Candidates from non-accredited programs may be considered with 2+ years of acute care experience (subject to CNO approval).
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license.
- Certifications: Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced Life Support (ACLS) may be required per unit specialty.
