Job Title – Sterile Processing Technician (Certified) #N
Unit – Sterile Processing Department (SPD)
Duration of Assignment – 13 Weeks
Location – Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA 02118
Shift – Evenings, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with weekend rotation (once every 8 weeks), up to every other holiday (EOH). No call.
Guarantee Hours – 40 Hours per Week
Salary Range – $27- $30/hr
Job Duties:
- Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Process and maintain instrumentation for orthopedic, neurological, and cardiac surgical services.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, sterilization protocols, and hospital policies.
- Inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and proper assembly before sterilization.
- Accurately document sterilization cycles and maintain required records.
- Deliver sterile supplies and equipment to designated departments throughout the hospital.
- Float to multiple Sterile Processing areas within the hospital as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to quality assurance standards.
- Collaborate effectively with operating room staff and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of recent acute care Sterile Processing experience.
- Recent travel assignment experience is required.
- Proficiency in processing orthopedic, neurological, and cardiac instrumentation.
- Will not be assigned to steam sterilization or dispatch responsibilities.
- Current CRCST (IAHCSMM/HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD/ASHCSP) certification required.
- Certification must be active and maintained with required CEUs.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be fluent in English.
- Ability to float to multiple departments within the hospital.
- Previous travelers who have worked at Boston Medical Center will not be considered.
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
