Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive hemodialysis treatments ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor patient vital signs, fluid balance, and laboratory results to assess treatment effectiveness and make real-time adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, self-care techniques, and lifestyle modifications to promote independence and well-being.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR), Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with nephrologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Manage aseptic techniques during vascular access procedures like catheter care to prevent infections.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and infection control protocols to enhance patient safety.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Previous dialysis experience is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments requiring critical thinking and rapid decision-making.
