American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Mother-Baby/Postpartum unit at a Level 2 Trauma, teaching hospital in Rome, GA, requiring 2 years of Mother/Baby/Postpartum experience and Epic proficiency.

Mother-Baby unit in an acute care hospital setting with a Level 2 Trauma designation, Level III NICU, and active residency program
-
Unit operates a rooming-in model with a baby nursery ("Baby Lounge") available as needed
-
21-bed unit (temporarily reduced to 16 beds + 5-bed overflow during summer 2026 construction)

Patient population includes post-delivery mothers and babies, diabetic patients, hypertensive/pre-eclampsia patients, NICU moms, antepartum patients, and overflow GYN surgical cases (e.g., hysterectomies)

Patient ratios are 1:3–4 couplets, with the possibility of occasional antepartum patients in assignment

Pitocin drips are used; insulin and mag drips are not administered on this unit

EMR: Epic (experience required)

Equipment includes Panda warmers and Omnicell medication dispensing

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 36 hours/week

Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
-
No on-call or float requirements
-
No holiday coverage required

Active RN license — Georgia or Compact state license required
-
Current BLS and NRP certifications required

Minimum 2 years of Mother/Baby/Postpartum nursing experience required

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency in couplet care, newborn assessment, 24-hour newborn testing, heel sticks, bilirubin baby care, and blood sugar management required

Antepartum experience preferred but not required
-
Experience as a Stork Nurse (assisting with deliveries) preferred but not required
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Provide couplet care to postpartum mothers and newborns, including assessment, bilirubin and blood sugar monitoring, and patient education in a rooming-in model
-
Unit is supported by a dedicated Stork RN who attends all deliveries and assists with postpartum care; high-risk deliveries are also attended by a NICU RN
-
Two lactation consultants available during day shifts to support breastfeeding mothers
-
Additional support staff include CNAs (typically 2 per shift), nursing techs, a 24/7 HUC/Receptionist, a 24/7 charge nurse with a reduced patient assignment, and a dedicated Resource RN for Women/Children most nights
-
Ancillary support includes 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, NNP, and neonatologist (on-call at night)

Orientation includes facility NEO and 3 shifts of unit orientation
