Proficiency in surgical suite cleaning and general floor waxing is preferred.

The Environmental Services Technician (housekeeper) is responsible for preventing the spread of infection and providing a clean, safe, aseptic, and attractive environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Environmental Services Technicians routinely clean and disinfect all hospital areas, surgical operating rooms, procedure rooms, and clinic/legacy buildings following St Vincent Policy and Procedures. This can be inclusive of Acute Care Unit Patient rooms, registration areas, patient therapy areas, laboratory, Emergency room areas, waiting areas, Surgical operating rooms and procedure rooms, public and employee restrooms, hallways, conference rooms, break rooms, reheat kitchen, administration offices, and sleep rooms. The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for garbage and medical waste disposal following St Vincent Policy and Procedures. They may be required to perform tasks involving visible or reasonably anticipated blood contamination exposure. The Environmental Services Technician must follow the procedures for handling, cleaning, disinfecting, and disposing or moving objects/materials and/or cleaning up blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood per St. Vincent policy and procedures. The Environmental Services Technician is also responsible for floor care, including dust mopping, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, stripping, and waxing. In addition to cleaning, the Environmental Services Technician is responsible for doing laundry. This includes transporting from building to building, sorting, loading and unloading washers, loading and unloading dryers, and folding and stocking linen in the proper areas in all buildings according to St Vincent Policy and Procedures. Also, Environmental Services technicians are responsible for cleaning and stocking all Environmental Services closets, including the upkeep of any equipment used by Environmental Services.

Perform a variety of assigned routine cleaning tasks, including but not limited to dusting, dust mopping, disinfecting, and cleaning, according to assigned areas in a timely manner. Areas will routinely include, but not be limited to, waiting areas, patient rooms, patient care areas, office areas, restrooms, breakrooms/kitchen areas, offices, surgical operating rooms and procedure areas, and sleep rooms.

Cleans patient rooms and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, cleaning and disinfecting ALL surfaces

Stock paper items and other supplies wherever they are needed.

Perform floor maintenance vacuuming, dust mopping, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, and waxing in all needed areas.

Clean and disinfect all surfaces, including "high touch" areas throughout all areas using established procedures

Properly use and be knowledgeable of all chemicals using established procedures.

Perform terminal cleans in all areas according to established procedures

Fill out and turn in all paperwork according to established procedures

Adhere to St Vincent infection prevention practices and standards, including biohazard waste handling, PPE standards, hand washing techniques, and standard or isolation precautions

Empty and transport soiled linen to appropriate locations

Empty biohazard receptacles replace liner/bin and transport to proper location

Dispose of sharps containers according to policy

Maintain adequate stock of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment. Report to supervisor any items needed
