Position Summary
The Overnight Hotel Security Guard ensures the safety and security of guests, employees, and property during late-night and early-morning hours. This role requires heightened vigilance, independent decision-making, and the ability to manage incidents with minimal on-site supervision. The guard provides continuous monitoring, conducts regular patrols, and responds to emergencies while maintaining a calm and professional presence.
The shifts are 9pm-6am Friday & Saturday only. Additional shifts may be available during special events, and you will first be asked if you are available to cover them before being put on the schedule.
Key Responsibilities Overnight Shift Duties
● Conduct thorough patrols of guest floors, back-of-house areas, parking lots, and exterior grounds during quiet hours.
● Provide increased monitoring of entrances, exits, and access points.
● Respond to noise complaints, disturbances, or suspicious activity.
● Implement conflict management techniques to de-escalate tense situations.
● Assist with overnight audits or operational tasks as requested by hotel management.
Safety & Security Operations
● Respond quickly to emergencies such as medical calls, alarms, or unauthorized access.
● Verify that safety equipment, including emergency lighting and fire exits, is functioning properly.
● Monitor for theft, unauthorized access, and property damage during vulnerable hours.
Guest & Staff Assistance
● Provide a professional and reassuring presence for guests.
● Assist overnight staff with safety protocols and after-hours issues.
● Support front desk personnel with guest verifications, escorts, and incident handling.
Incident Reporting & Documentation
● Complete detailed overnight incident reports and log entries for irregularities as needed.
● Communicate any overnight issues to morning management for follow-up.
● Work with law enforcement or emergency responders as needed.
QualificationsRequired
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Strong observational and decision-making skills.
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
● Availability to work overnight hours (e.g., 9pm–6am or similar).
● Physical ability to patrol and stand for extended periods.
● Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields is preferred.
