Job Description Responsibilities:
- Warmly WELCOME every victim and child entering shelter. Immediately create a sense of safety and security.
- Assist with any immediate medical needs, provide appropriate help, and obtain necessary treatment.
- Provide food/clothing/personal hygiene items as needed.
- Prepare shelter bedrooms before victim entry with personal supplies, towels, pajamas, new pillows and pillowcases.
- Conduct initial intake. Go over client handbook thoroughly and have client sign receipt page.
- Assist clients and children with any other needs.
- Transport clients as needed.
- Empower and encourage clients/respond compassionately to requests and make an effort to fulfill.
- Plan, coordinate and implement holiday meals and activities.
- Inform nighttime staff of clients’ current situations and monitor night shift operations.
- Respond to crisis situations occurring during and in between regularly scheduled hours.
- Monitor clients’ daily responsibilities to ensure cleanliness and organization of the shelter.
- Some heavy lifting may be required when furniture/appliances are donated to the shelter and when transitioning a client from the shelter into a new apartment.
- Coordinate with store manager client’s transition into new apartment, household establishment and set-up.
- Complete all emergency admissions / discharges per policies during shift coverage.
- Answer and evaluate crisis hotline. Approve victim for entry into the shelter and make arrival arrangements, or admit victim into Outreach Program if safe housing is determined, or make appropriate referrals to community service agencies, and conduct safety planning.
- Assess and refer eligible clients to community resources. Provide transportation.
- Conduct and document required physical site and client chore inspections according to State and shelter requirements.
- Conduct and document required monthly severe weather/fire drill
- Maintain accurate client records daily.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings, in person and through webinars, as required by the Executive Director.
- Maintain good and effective communication with clients’ supervisors and program staff.
- Must have and maintain a private automobile with proper liability insurance and a valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or director.
- Must submit to a criminal records check.
- Must submit to a health screening/physician’s statement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the agency. Maintain good working relationships with co-workers. Strive for good professional relationships with clients. Report conflicts to the Director of Operations and Finance
- Maintain client stats, services and case notes on a daily basis on Apricot. Back up files.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality. Applies as a current employee and continues until the end of employment.
- After-hours and weekend work may be necessary to assist the on-duty advocate with new client entry and/or client crisis and holiday activities for shelter clients and their children.
Pay: $41,600.00 - $47,840.00 per year
