Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work closely with licensed physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including rehab clinic and acute care environments. This role is essential in helping patients regain mobility and improve their overall quality of life through effective rehabilitation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and activities to enhance patient mobility and strength.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on proper techniques for exercises and daily activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, progress notes, and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in discharge planning to facilitate a smooth transition for patients leaving therapy.
Skills
The successful candidate should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency in medical terminology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy to understand the physical aspects of rehabilitation.
- Experience in home health settings, providing care in patients' residences.
- Familiarity with various therapy techniques, including trigger point therapy.
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care across diverse populations, including pediatrics and orthopedics.
- Understanding of discharge planning processes to support patients' transitions from therapy.
- Experience working in acute care or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable.
