SCOPE:
This position will report directly to the Upholstery Supervisor and be responsible for the utmost quality craftsmanship of each piece of furniture passing through the assigned cell in a timely and efficiency manner with a focus on personal safety, the safety of others, and continuous improvement initiatives.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possess desire and ambition to work safely and efficiently and report all work hazards immediately.
- Use hand tools such as air powered staple guns, pliers, staple pullers, scissors, and regulators to build and upholster top quality furniture.
- Secure work pieces and materials onto production equipment.
- Work with materials such as glue, staples, and nails.
- Examine furniture frames, springs, etc. to identify any defects.
- Cover wooden frame with soft materials such as cotton, felt pad, fiber, or foam to improve texture and appearance.
- Fitting, installing, and securing pre-cut and sewn material to prepped frames using the best upholstery techniques available based on the task at hand.
- Align seams and patterns as necessary for individual pieces.
- Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and upholstery machines.
- Work in a cellular environment with a team of co-workers in the safest most efficient manner possible.
- Discuss complications or assembly cell slowdowns with supervisors and brainstorm solutions for increased productivity.
- Work with quality department to repair any defects. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot to solve upholstery problems
- Ability to use and apply basic math principles
- Ability to read and use a tape measure
- Ability to use basic measurement skills
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with hand tools
- Experience with power equipment
- Experience with measuring devices
