We're seeking an experienced Part-Time Optician to join our optical team! This is a great opportunity for a skilled professional who enjoys providing personalized eye care and eyewear solutions on weekends.Position: Part-Time Dispensing Optician
Schedule: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (Friday 9a-6p, Saturday 9a-3p, Sunday 12p-4p)
Location: Heights area
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a dispensing optician
Bilingual: A plus
About the Role:
As our weekend Optician, you'll be the go-to expert for helping customers find the perfect eyewear. You'll work in a friendly, customer-focused environment, dispensing glasses and contacts, adjusting frames, and ensuring every client leaves satisfied with their vision correction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and verify prescriptions from doctors
- Assist customers in selecting frames, lenses, and coatings based on their prescription, lifestyle, preferences, and budget
- Take precise facial and ocular measurements (pupillary distance, segment height, etc.)
- Fit and adjust eyeglasses for comfort and optimal performance
- Perform minor frame repairs and adjustments
- Educate patients on lens options, eyewear care, and contact lens insertion/removal (if applicable)
- Process orders, coordinate with labs, and handle insurance verification/billing as needed
- Maintain an organized, appealing frame display and monitor inventory
- Deliver outstanding customer service with patience, attention to detail, and product knowledge
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of proven experience as a dispensing optician in a retail optical or eye care setting
- Strong knowledge of current lens technologies, frame styles, and optical products
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport quickly
- Detail-oriented with good hand-eye coordination for measurements and adjustments
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during busy weekend hours
- Bilingual abilities (a plus) – preferred but not required
