Position Overview:
The Customer Care and Adoptions Coordinator welcomes the public to FAAS and provides excellent and compassionate customer service for adoptions, found animals, return to owner, licensing, information and referrals, and other services. As a valuable member of the animal care team, this position works with staff, volunteers, and the community to provide shelter pets and their human families with the best outcomes possible.
Core responsibilities include:
- Welcome the public both in-person and over the phone with a friendly and professional demeanor. Provide accurate information and proactive customer service.
- Ensure that various forms and supplies are organized and available to conduct FAAS business, including adoptions packets, licensing forms, public dog walking waivers, etc.
- Ensure front office, entry way, and break room areas are kept organized and clean.
- Process donations received in the mail, over the phone, or walk-up.
- Process city pet licenses
- Perform intake tasks for incoming animals, including: strays, owner surrenders, emergency boarding, and safekeeping
- Welcome potential adopters and, using open-ended questions, counsel them on bringing a new pet into their family.
- Process all adoption paperwork, including follow-up and data entry.
- Post found animals on social media as needed
- Assist with animal marketing tasks as needed (creating animal website profiles, obtaining photo or video of animals).
- Reconciles end of day receipts; ensures cash, credit cards, and checks balance. Enter all transactions into the appropriate database.
- Attend quarterly all-staff meetings.
Related duties may be assigned by the CEO or the Shelter Operations Director.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would meet the following qualifications:

Detail oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work well within a team environment with high standards, integrity, and a sense of humor.
Experience dealing effectively, diplomatically, honestly, and sensitively with staff, volunteers and the public.
Able to work through issues as they arise, demonstrate sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated experience in animal care and behavior; with an emphasis on cats and small animals, preferably in a shelter environment.
Knowledge of personal computers and computer software applications, including Microsoft Office and databases.
Creative, flexible to changing approaches and an openness to new ideas.
Must have weekend availability.
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and an insurable driving record.

Expected hours: 15.0 – 22.5 per week
