Position Overview
A Pompano Beach law firm is seeking an experienced, organized and dependable Litigation Paralegal to assist attorneys with family law, probate and general civil litigation matters.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on Florida litigation experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a professional, fast-paced law-office environment.
This is an in-person position at our Pompano Beach office.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with family law, probate and general civil litigation matters.
- Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, notices, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas and correspondence.
- Electronically file documents through the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal.
- Maintain case calendars, litigation deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations and trial schedules.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, judicial assistants, court personnel, experts and other professionals.
- Assist with preparing financial affidavits, mandatory disclosures and family-law discovery.
- Assist with probate petitions, notices, inventories, accountings and related filings.
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, inspections and expert-witness matters.
- Review, organize and summarize medical records, financial records, discovery materials and other evidence.
- Prepare hearing, mediation and trial notebooks.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and courtroom support.
- Monitor incoming court orders, correspondence and electronic-service notifications.
- Perform administrative and legal-support duties as needed.
Qualifications
- At least two/three years of Florida litigation paralegal or legal-assistant experience.
- Experience with Florida state-court procedures and electronic filing.
- Experience in family law, probate or general civil litigation. Experience in more than one practice area is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of litigation deadlines, discovery procedures and case management.
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments and meet strict deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and ability to communicate compassionately with clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and law-office case-management software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information.
- Reliable attendance and transportation to the Pompano Beach office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Florida Registered Paralegal designation or paralegal certificate.
- Trial-preparation experience.
- Familiarity with Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade court procedures.
- Bilingual English and Spanish or English and Portuguese skills are helpful but not required.
