Position Overview
Sacred Heart High School is seeking an energetic, compassionate, competitive, and student-centered Boys Soccer Head Coach to lead and inspire the school’s soccer program. This paid position plays an important role in developing student-athletes both on and off the field by fostering a positive team culture, promoting sportsmanship, building soccer skills, and helping students grow in confidence, discipline, teamwork, and character.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong passion for soccer, experience working with young athletes, and the leadership skills necessary to motivate players to achieve their best. The Boys Soccer Head Coach should understand that coaching at the high school level is about more than wins and losses. It is about forming young people through accountability, resilience, compassion, healthy competition, and pride in representing Sacred Heart High School.
Primary Responsibilities
The Boys Soccer Head Coach will be responsible for:
- Planning and running organized, purposeful, and engaging practices from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Creating practice plans focused on soccer skill development, conditioning, tactics, teamwork, game preparation, and overall team growth.
- Leading team practices, games, and any tournaments or scrimmages with enthusiasm, professionalism, and clear expectations.
- Coaching games during the season, with games taking place most weeks.
- Developing team strategies and helping student-athletes understand positioning, communication, decision-making, and game situations.
- Teaching the fundamentals of soccer, including technical skills, tactical awareness, rules, sportsmanship, and competitive preparation.
- Supervising student-athletes before, during, and after practices and games.
- Remaining with students after practices and games until all students have been picked up.
- Promoting a safe, respectful, inclusive, and positive environment for all student-athletes.
- Communicating effectively and professionally with players, parents, the Director of Athletics, school administration, and other staff members regarding schedules, expectations, team progress, and student concerns.
- Monitoring student-athlete attendance, effort, behavior, commitment, and overall team participation.
- Managing player behavior and helping resolve conflicts in a way that maintains a respectful and team-first atmosphere.
- Implementing appropriate safety protocols, including injury prevention practices and proper response to student injuries.
- Collaborating with the Director of Athletics, school administration, and other coaches or staff to support program consistency and school expectations.
- Ensuring that equipment, uniforms, facilities, and playing spaces are used responsibly and respectfully.
- Supporting school policies, athletic department expectations, and Catholic school values.
- Serving as a positive role model for students through words, actions, attitude, preparation, and leadership.

Time Commitment
The Boys Soccer Head Coach must be available for practices and games during the soccer season. Practices generally take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Games occur most weeks and may require additional time for travel, preparation, warm-ups, supervision, and post-game responsibilities.
The coach is required to remain with students after practices and games until every student has been picked up.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Prior soccer coaching or playing experience.
- Proven experience in soccer coaching, youth coaching, school athletics, or sports-specific instruction.
- Experience working with high school students or children in an educational, recreational, or athletic setting.
- Strong knowledge of soccer rules, techniques, training methods, and strategy development.
- Ability to organize practices, manage a team environment, and lead student-athletes effectively.
- Strong communication skills for working with players, parents, staff, and school administration.
- Ability to manage student behavior while maintaining a positive and respectful team culture.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, AED operation, child safety, or related health and safety areas are preferred.
- Completion of all required school, league, and safety clearances or certifications.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Sacred Heart High School.
Additional Helpful Experience
Additional experience in athletics, physical education, strength and conditioning, youth development, or other team-based sports is a plus. Candidates with experience coaching or teaching in other athletic areas may bring valuable skills in leadership, conditioning, motivation, and student development.

Pay: From $2,000.00 per year
