Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Wound Care Nurse -RN to join our team in the High Desert region. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality wound care services that align with our mission of improving patient outcomes and enhancing quality of life. This current position is currently for 4 hours per week on Thursdays morning to assist our wound care surgeon in the out patient setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including size, depth, drainage, tissue type, and signs of infection.
- Develop individualized wound care plans based on evidence-based practices and physician orders.
- Administer wound care treatments such as debridement, dressing changes, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and compression therapy.
- Monitor wound healing progress and document findings accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, infection prevention, and nutrition for healing.
- Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Identify and manage pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and regulatory standards.
- Participate in wound care rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and staff training
- Techniques & Modalities
- Debridement: Autolytic, enzymatic, mechanical.
- Advanced Dressings: Use of hydrocolloids, alginates, foams, hydrogels, and antimicrobial dressings.
- Skin Substitutes & Bioengineered Products: Application of grafts and cellular tissue products
- Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT): Application and monitoring of vacuum-assisted closure systems.
- Compression Therapy: Application of multilayer compression bandaging for venous ulcers/Una Boot applications.
- Offloading Techniques: Use of specialized footwear, cushions, and positioning devices.
- Wound Photography & Measurement Tools: Use of digital tools to track wound progression.
- Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Proven experience in wound care management
- Knowledge of wound healing physiology and infection control principles.
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, Allscripts proffessional
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Certification in wound care preferred but not mandatory
- Experience in high level wound care is a plus
