Role: Merchandiser
Role Scope: The merchandiser’s role is to work with retail accounts in properly rotating product, filling shelves, maintaining backstock, and building displays at retail. Merchandisers must maintain a strong relationship with Retail Managers to ensure that product rotation, displays and backstock are followed in accordance with Skeff Distributing and the Retail Accounts standards and guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Delivery
- Merchandiser works directly with the driver and salesmen to deliver product into each retail account in accordance with each retail account’s specifications.
Communication
- Communicate with the manager/department head/receiving clerk and execute their instructions.
- Communicate with drivers on work orders, especially on drop-and-go deliveries.
- Communicate Out-of-Stocks, etc. to the salesmen.
- Thank the manager/department head/receiving clerk for their business before leaving the account.
Merchandising Tasks in Retail Account
- Account/Pre-delivery preparation with existing product.
- Stock and rotate coolers, shelves, displays, and back stock for all Skeff Distributing products (beer and NA).
- Keep back stock organized, neat, and condensed
- Carry some current POS.
- Keep all areas clean in accounts (backrooms, floors, displays, etc.).
- Clean all work areas.
- Discard all boxes and shrink wrap.
- Take all A-B pallets and all other supplier pallets to proper storage area for Skeff pickup.
- (Re)Building displays.
- Take care of breakage and Out-of-Code product and dedicate an area for each.
- Repair breakage, discarding any broken or leaking bottles, cans, etc.
- Make note of Out-of-Stock, close-dated, outdated, or damaged product and inform salesman.
- Place or note any paper POCM and permanent POC needed in each account – inside or outside the account (shelf strips, cooler stickers, price cards, banners, pole signs, etc.).
Work Verification
- Thank the manager/department head/receiving clerk to communicate and verify that all work has been completed.
- Track all hours and mileage using the Paycor App.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must be able to:
- Lift 160 lbs.
- Work outdoors in wet, cold (below freezing), and extreme hot weather conditions.
- Work indoors in CEW environment (34 to 80 degrees).
- Maneuver handcarts with product up to 140 lbs.
- Use pallet jacks and maneuver up to 1,000 lbs.
- Proper appearance (uniforms).
- No earbuds in use while working in retail accounts.
- Signed Customer 1st contract included in employment packet.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Mathematical skills.
