Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDI) – Remote
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Employment Type: Full-Time | W2 Contract
Compensation: $45–55/hr (DOE)
Position Length: 6 Months with Conversion
We are seeking experienced Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDI) to join a nationally recognized healthcare organization supporting inpatient documentation integrity initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for seasoned CDI professionals looking to work remotely while partnering with physicians, coding teams, and clinical leadership to improve documentation quality, coding accuracy, and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform concurrent reviews of inpatient medical records to identify documentation improvement opportunities.
- Review medical records within 24–48 hours of admission and conduct follow-up reviews throughout the patient's stay.
- Formulate compliant physician queries to clarify missing, conflicting, or incomplete documentation.
- Support accurate MS-DRG assignment, Severity of Illness (SOI), and Risk of Mortality (ROM).
- Collaborate with providers, coding professionals, quality teams, and case management to improve documentation quality.
- Perform DRG reconciliation and assist with documentation improvement initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines, Coding Clinic guidance, and compliant query practices.
Required Qualifications
RN Candidates
- Active RN license (Compact or Single-State)
- CCDS or CDIP certification
- 5+ years of recent acute care inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity experience
OR
Coding Candidates
- Active CCS or RHIT certification
- CCDS or CDIP certification (required)
- 5+ years of recent inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) experience

Schedule
This position supports facilities across multiple time zones. Candidates must be available to work a full-time schedule within assigned facility hours.
