Responsibilities
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to ensure patient health status is maintained and communicated accurately through medical documentation systems.
- Support medication administration following home healthcare regulations and medical terminology standards while maintaining strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral management strategies.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe environment that promotes overall well-being.
- Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems; document patient progress and any changes in condition diligently.
- Respond promptly to patient needs during emergencies by applying first aid or basic life support (BLS) procedures and coordinating with emergency services when required.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home healthcare agencies is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or geriatrics, including dementia or hospice care settings.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, catheter care, medication management, and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- Proven ability to perform patient transfer methods safely using Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids; experience with heavy lifting is advantageous.
- Knowledge of home health care regulations and best practices for providing compassionate client communication while maintaining patient privacy under HIPAA standards.
- Live-in employment experience or long-term caregiving roles are considered valuable assets for this position.
