Responsibilities
- Install and configure security systems such as alarm panels, CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarms, and access control devices in various commercial and residential settings.
- Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions using hand tools, power tools, schematics, and remote access software to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct system testing to verify proper operation of low voltage electrical components, cabling connections, and network integration involving computer networking and telecommunication systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on existing security infrastructure to maximize reliability and longevity.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and provide tailored system design solutions that meet their requirements.
- Document installation procedures, system configurations, and service reports accurately for record-keeping and future reference.
- Stay current with industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements and emerging security technologies like IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) and surveillance innovations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer in the security or alarm systems industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience related to low voltage wiring, cabling, schematics interpretation, and power tools operation.
- Familiarity with computer hardware setup, network configuration, remote access software, and system design principles.
- Hands-on experience working with fire alarm systems, CCTV surveillance equipment including cameras and sensors, IDS solutions, and telecommunication systems.
- Ability to read technical schematics accurately and follow detailed installation instructions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently in field service environments across construction sites or existing facilities.
