POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Job Title: Extended Day Nurse
Opening Date: July 2, 2025

Expected Workday: As assigned by Extended Day Director
Terms of Employment: Part-Time, temporary
Reports To: Community Education Coordinator/Extended Day Director
Job Goals:
· To maintain a climate of health and well-being within the BCSS extended day program.
Qualifications:
· Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
· Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse or RN
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
· Investigates individual health problems of all students and consults with appropriate agencies for treatment then follow-up and submits any required reports.
· Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures and state guidelines
· Monitor all diabetic students and administer all medication, injections as needed
· Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
· Prepare and submit reports for the Lead School Nurse
· Advise teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for student health defects
· Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boaz City Board of Education.
