We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payment Poster to join our growing medical billing team. The Payment Poster is responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, reconciling accounts, researching discrepancies, and ensuring all payments are applied correctly and in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience working with medical billing and insurance payments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Post insurance payments, patient payments, and adjustments accurately and promptly.
- Review and reconcile electronic remittance advice (ERA) and explanation of benefits (EOBs).
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies, denials, and unapplied balances.
- Verify contractual adjustments and ensure payments are posted according to payer contracts.
- Identify accounts requiring follow-up and communicate issues to the appropriate department.
- Process refunds and credit balances as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of payment activity and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end reconciliation and reporting.
- Collaborate with billing, referrals, and front office staff to resolve account issues.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all company policies regarding patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
