Bookkeeper

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team and support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of our growing business.
Position Overview: The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the company's financial operations. This individual will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, assisting with month-end closing activities, and ensuring the integrity of our accounting records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records and general ledger accounts
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including processing vendor invoices and customer payments
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close procedures
- Generate monthly financial statements and management reports
- Monitor cash flow, account balances, and aging reports
- Assist with payroll processing and related reporting
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation
- Work with external accountants during tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Support management with financial analysis and reporting as needed
- Manage financial relationships with independent sales representatives, including commission calculations, statement preparation, payment processing, and resolution of commission-related inquiries
- Reconcile retailer sales reports, customer remittances, memo inventory activity, chargebacks, returns, deductions, and outstanding balances to ensure accurate billing and collections
- Coordinate with sales representatives and retail accounts to investigate and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, payments, memo merchandise, commissions, and account balances
- Maintain accurate records and reconciliations for memo inventory, retailer accounts, sales activity, accounts receivable, and commission expenses
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles
- Experience preparing financial statements
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and month-end close
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar platforms
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience working with wholesale, manufacturing, jewelry, luxury goods, fashion, or consumer products companies
- Experience with inventory accounting and memo inventory programs
- Experience managing retailer remittances, chargebacks, sales commissions, and customer account reconciliations
- Experience supporting external audits and tax preparation
