Position Summary
The Applications Engineer II is responsible for supporting the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout of fire, security, and communications systems. This role provides technical field support, assists with project execution, and helps ensure quality, accuracy, and timely completion of assigned work. Candidates must hold a current license or credential that authorizes them to perform applicable electrical, fire alarm, security, or related systems work in the states where they will perform services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Serve as a technical resource for NSG’s fire, security, and communications system offerings.
· Perform system programming, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and related field services on assigned projects.
· Support project execution and assist in moving assigned work through completion and closeout.
· Develop and maintain technical reference materials and manufacturer information for field use.
· Provide field coordination and direction to electricians and installers during installation, programming, commissioning, and closeout activities.
· Communicate project progress, job status, and outstanding items requiring completion.
· Maintain current manufacturer software and applicable updates required to perform job duties.
· Maintain and obtain licenses and credentials required for the role, including applicable Massachusetts licensure requirements.
· Review project documents and provide feedback to engineering or estimating staff to support project planning and execution.
· Survey existing systems and assist in determining appropriate approaches for retrofit and upgrade work.
· Maintain and develop proficiency across NSG’s fire, security, and communications product offerings.
· Demonstrate competence in systems knowledge, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
· Participate in Company-sponsored training and professional development relevant to the position.
Training, Certifications, and Licensure:
Required Licensure
Candidates are required to hold a minimum of one qualifying license(s):
· Massachusetts: D License or B License
· Rhode Island: BF License or applicable Rhode Island Electrician License
· Ability to maintain all required state licenses and credentials in good standing
· Experience with fire alarm, electronic security, low-voltage, communications, electrical, or integrated systems
· Demonstrated ability to program, troubleshoot, test, or commission technical systems.
· Ability to read and interpret project documents, drawings, specifications, and system documentation
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customers and project sites
· Ability to use a laptop, diagnostic software, testing equipment, and related tools
Physical and Work Requirements
This position requires the ability to work in field environments at customer and project sites, use a laptop, diagnostic software, testing equipment, and related tools, travel locally as needed, and perform the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, and lifting tools or equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
