1. Responsible for managing day to day activities of CMAs/LPNs for their respective care team to ensure smooth workflow, oversight of team medical assistant schedule, work with Lead RN on coverage of immunizations phone, perform care team support staff-specific meetings, mentoring of all CMA/LPN staff and confirmation of all CMA/LPN competencies on a regular and recurring basis. Work closely with Team Lead on developing CMA/LPN standards and workflows. When needed, work on floor in clinical capacity.
2. Works closely with Clinical Support Manager to maintain team provider’s schedules to include both opening and closing when necessary.
3. Collaborates with the Clinical Support Specialist to ensure consistent and effective training for new onboarding CMAs, LPNs, and students, ensuring all team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
4. Greets patients in waiting area, escorts them throughout their entire clinic experience.
5. Obtains brief history and performs screening questions in accordance to clinic policy and subsequently documents in the E.H.R.
6. Functions as a scribe during the clinician encounter and prepares notes for medical provider for review and signature.
7. Receives orders from clinician on obtaining diagnostic testing to include labs, imaging, and other necessary tests.
8. Carries out orders from licensed medical personnel.
9. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to clinic procedures. Obtains patient clinical information such as recording temperatures, pulse rate, blood pressure and responses to standardized medical history questions.
10. Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to a licensed staff member.
11. Performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waved Lab tests such as urine dip stick, HGB, HCT, finger stick, glucose, hemoccult, HCG and reports results to the appropriate personnel.
12. Performs patient phlebotomies in accordance with clinic procedures and clinician orders after specialized training.
13. Performs specialty skills such as suture removal, straight catheterization and injections (IM, Subq and intra-dermal).
14. Monitors and cleans assigned patient examination rooms, lab areas, procedure rooms and other unit areas and unit equipment to include reporting outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of items and necessary equipment repairs.
15. Answers telephones, forwards telephone messages and under the direction of licensed staff schedules appointments, procedures and diagnostic tests.
16. Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, locating and compiling department charts, obtaining medical records from other providers and entering charges for billing purposes.
17. Attends and completes mandatory in-services including infection control, safety, CPR, equipment usage and procedures according to hospital and department policies.
18. Applies leads and monitors for diagnostic procedures such as ECG and ultrasound scan under the supervision of licensed personnel.
19. Assists family education by providing educational material and general health information to patients and family members.
20. Prints patient wellness handouts at the end of each patient experience.
21. Assists with transportation of patients to ancillary departments or inpatient units as directed by licensed staff.
22. Will actively work to ensure that all Integrated Team encounters provide a patient care experience in alignment with TCC values. Will particularly support and model the TCC values embodied with Ch’eghwtsen’.
23. Will work cooperatively with the Provider Team Lead and Lead RN to ensure that all AAAHC standards are met and that compliance with these standards is occurring on a continual basis.
24. Will be responsible to help develop and cultivate a strong spirit of effective teamwork amongst Integrated Team staff.
25. Accept and complete special assignments such as chart reviews and quality data extraction.
26. Oversight and responsibility for programs such as staff training for point of care laboratory testing procedures.
27. Responsibility for quality control such as regular audits of point of care testing.
28. Takes on special project assignments such as reviewing, revising, and/or documenting procedures, work processes, or policies.
29. Serve as a preceptor/mentor for MA/LPN during clinical rotation.
30. Serve on clinical committees at CAIHC as required.
31. Assisting/facilitating with ancillary programs within TCC. ie: Immunizations, Back to School physicals, Traditional Healing clinics.
