The Lead Laboratory Medical Technologist (Lead Med Tech) is a leadership position, providing laboratory services within the department, in conjunction with the Director of Laboratory Services. This position performs a wide range of clinical and diagnostic testing of all complexities and disciplines, including but not limited to Hematology, Immunohematology, Chemistry, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Serology. This position assists the Director of Laboratory Services in the supervision and training of laboratory personnel. This position must adhere to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Contributes to highquality, safe, laboratory practices in service to patients

Assists the Director of Laboratory Services in the supervision of laboratory personnel, development of policies and procedures, and other duties as directed.

Handles and processes specimens, ensuring proper identification and specimen validity
Performs accurate clinical/diagnostic testing, routine, specialized, and esoteric testing, according to standard operating procedures on human biological samples within the scope of practice of one’s education and training

Recognizes and resolves problems that result in inaccurate test results, relying on procedures and applying scientific knowledge

Analyzes, interprets, and reports laboratory results according to protocols and regulatory requirements

Exercises independent judgement and critical thinking in nonroutine circumstances to solve problems

Maintains accurate, current, and complete records

Operates laboratory equipment correctly, performs troubleshooting according to procedures, and explores new solutions as needed to resolve problems

Communicates effectively to other shifts and interdepartmentally when appropriate, regarding patient and operational issues

Performs required quality control testing on equipment and reagents; knows acceptable levels of performance

Documents corrective actions taken for problem resolution, instrument maintenance, or quality control/test performance

Meets all personnel standards in governing, regulatory, and accreditation requirements for clinical laboratory testing

Participates in proficiency testing and competency assessments to meet regulatory requirements

Maintains controlled inventories of reagents and laboratory materials

Conducts education and training for new personnel, fellows, residents, students, and visitors within the scope of practice of one’s licensure

Listens, anticipates, and responds to the needs of internal and external customers and strives to meet expectations

Performs phlebotomy when necessary.

Bachelor’s Degree, Medical or ScienceRelated

One Year Clinical Laboratory Experience

Current Florida MT licensure, in good standing

Current Florida SU licensure, in good standing, preferred (you will be required to obtain an SU license within 12 months of hire date)

Good communication and listening skills

Demonstrate competencies in appropriate areas

The Calhoun Liberty Hospital Association, Inc. (CLHA) contracts with Alliant Management Services for administrative operations and has a formal partnership with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) to enhance service capabilities and resources available to CLH. CLH is currently constructing a new $40 million state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot facility set to open Summer 2025.
