At McDonald's, the General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and success of the restaurant. This role ensures efficient daily operations, delivers exceptional customer experiences, and drives the achievement of financial and operational goals. The General Manager is accountable for maintaining a profitable operation while consistently upholding McDonald’s standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC). In addition, they are responsible for adhering to and enforcing all Acosta policies and procedures. The General Manager develops, coaches, and leads a high-performing team committed to operational excellence and company values.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Brand Standards
-
Ensure full compliance with all McDonald’s policies, procedures, and brand standards
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized restaurant at all times
-
Deliver excellence in Quality, Service, and Cleanliness (QSC)
-
Ensure all equipment and facilities are properly maintained
-
Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency and consistency
2. Customer Service & Hospitality
-
Delivers, models, and enforces outstanding customer service in accordance with McDonald's standards and procedures
-
Work with demanding customers
-
Resolve customer concerns promptly using established service recovery methods
-
Ensure a positive experience for every customer visit
-
Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements
3. Teamwork & Work Environment

Must lead, coach, and work collaboratively with crew and other managers to meet daily operational goals

4. Dependability, Attendance, and Work Requirements

Arrive to work on time and ready to work as scheduled

Maintain open availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs

Must work a minimum of 5 days per week, working 45 to 55 hours per week.

Be accessible outside of scheduled shifts to provide guidance, answer questions, and respond to urgent operational issues, including reporting to the restaurant when necessary

Oversees and ensures strict adherence to company policies, including cash management, loss prevention, and safety protocols

Maintains accountability for a clean, organized, and safe restaurant environment
7. Quality, Safety & Profitability

Ensures full compliance with food safety, quality, operational, safety, security, and cash-handling standards

Holds team accountable for consistent product quality, preparation, and adherence to standards

Maintains a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment for employees and customers

Ensures adherence to all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements; promptly addresses and reports incidents

Drives operational efficiency through effective inventory management, waste reduction, and product rotation

Optimizes labor by monitoring staffing levels and adjusting to business demands

Drives sales growth and maximizes profitability through strong operational execution

Manages labor, food cost, and controllable expenses to achieve financial targets

Manage scheduling to meet business needs while controlling labor costs

Monitors financial performance and implements corrective actions to improve results
8. Training & Development

Ensures completion of all required training programs and application of learned skills on the job

Drives restaurant performance by supporting customer satisfaction and achievement of key metrics

Develops crew and future leaders through structured training, coaching, and promotion pathways

Monitors training progress, follows up on completion, and provides ongoing feedback and development opportunities

Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by seeking feedback and identifying growth opportunities
9. Qualifications and Physical Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older
-
Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Results-driven with a track record of achieving operational and financial goals

Previous General Manager restaurant experience required

Committed to following and enforcing established systems, policies, and procedures

Maintains a positive, growth-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds
