Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with a strong medical background to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support attorneys across a diverse range of legal areas, including healthcare law and civil litigation. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys handling cases in estate planning, environmental law, personal injury, workers' compensation, and other legal specialties.
- Manage and organize legal documents using document management systems such as iManage and Westlaw, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Conduct legal research utilizing LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other research tools to assist in case preparation and strategy development.
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents including pleadings, contracts, discovery requests, and correspondence with attention to detail and clarity.
- Assist with client communication by scheduling meetings, interviewing clients for case information, and maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Support litigation processes by reviewing case files, managing deadlines, filing documents with courts, and coordinating with external parties.
- Maintain accurate data entry records within PCLaw and other case management software while ensuring compliance with procedural law requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a biller/coder
- Strong knowledge of CMS and CMS procedures
- I want to learn and have a strong desire to succeed
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with effective writing skills for preparing reports and correspondence.
- Exceptional client communication skills coupled with professionalism in handling confidential information.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies such as Legal Support software and litigation tools; experience with UCC law or landlord-tenant law is advantageous.
