Licensed Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Teacher / Special Education Teacher
Job Summary
Provide specialized instruction to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in accordance with Minnesota special education regulations and each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher creates a structured learning environment that promotes academic, behavioral, communication, social, and functional skill development while collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs.
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction using evidence-based autism interventions.
- Assess student progress and maintain required educational documentation.
- Implement Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIS/BIPs).
- Teach communication, social, behavioral, adaptive, and academic skills.
- Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and general education teachers.
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals working with students.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians.
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and professional development.
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) teaching license in:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or
- Academic and Behavioral Strategist (ABS) with appropriate assignment eligibility.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education.
- Knowledge of special education law (IDEA), IEP development, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
License/Certification:
- Special Education Certification (Required)
